Ambra Santa Cristina In Pilli Carmignano 2011

(75% sangiovese, 10% cabernet sauvignon, 10% canaiolo nero and 5% other red grapes): Deep ruby. Sweet, spicy, ripe red cherry on the enticing nose. On the palate, fresh blackcurrant, aromatic herb and sweet pipe tobacco flavors are nicely framed by fine tannins. The finish is extremely long and fresh. Usually I find there is little to choose between Montefortini and Santa Cristina in Pilli (as in 2010) but in 2011 this wine is the clear winner. Score - 92. (Ian D'Agata, vinousmedia.com, Sept. 2014)
