Wynns Alex 88 Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

A central Coonawarra site that was planted, you guessed it, in 1988, this has performed very well in 2010 and thereby singled itself out for a special bottling. The nose gives a sense that there is tremendous concentration of fruit packed into this wine, deep-knit complexity too. Aromas run from wild herbs and leafy notes through to dark chocolate and ripe dark summer berries, really striking, some more fragrant elements too. The palate is impressive for the focus and precision it delivers, with a strong core of very fine and layered tannin, abundant cassis, black cherry and purple plum fruit flavours are framed up in polished style here.
