Berdié Gran Anyada Extra Brut 2004
The 2004 Gran Anyada is aged in contact with the lees for a very long time, the bottle I tasted was disgorged 100 months after it was bottled, and all bottles show the disgorging date on the back label. The extended bottle-aging gave it aromas of caramel, roasted nuts, toasted bread, brioche, freshly-baked apple tart and camphor, providing both nose and palate with elegance and depth and very small bubbles that give it a velvety texture while keeping the citric acidity. This is substantially cheaper than other Cavas with long-lees contact and it's offered at a very good price. I never drink my sparkling wines in flutes, as I prefer white wine glasses, but I'd even opt for a red wine glass for aged Cavas like this one. Drink now-2017. Score - 92.
