Poplar Grove Merlot 2009

Intense ripe, rich and complex mix of sun warmed brambly berries, bread pudding, dried plums, blueberry, xmas cake, dried fig and vanilla. The palate is dry, rich, full and ripe with lots of alcohol the only downer but otherwise lots of concentrated red and blue fruits with baking spice, milk chocolate, dried fruit and fruit cake like richness. On the big and boozy side but a good example of this style from a hot BC vintage. Score - 90. (Rhys Pender, MW, winealign.com, Aug. 30, 2014)
