Quinta do Noval Touriga Nacional 2009

The 2009 TOURIGA NACIONAL was my favorite of Noval's '09s. This has fine depth, some of the same great aromatics as the '08 reviewed this issue and simply delicious fruit. It is still elegantly constructed in the mid-palate while displaying a serious backbone and fine persistence on the finish. It seems light on its feet - but it never gives up. Well integrated and increasingly expressive with air, it is potentially exceptional with considerable room for improvement in the cellar. I loved this when tasted in Douro and it was equally beautiful in the USA, quickly becoming one of my favorite monovarietals and quite possibly the best effort yet from Noval for table wines.
