Burning Kiln Strip Room Merlot/Cabernet Franc 2012

An appassimento-style wine, made from grapes dried in former tobacco kilns, although no heat is applied during the drying process in this case. The wine shows some high-toned, volatile notes on the nose, yet the palate is full and densely concentrated, with both supple and firm texture, tightened up by dusty tannins, leading into a long, lingering finish. There's fine depth of ripe black fruit flavours and a sucrosity/glycerous texture that will appeal widely no doubt. One of the more successful appassimento wines from Ontario in my estimation.
