Le Cirque Grenache Noir/Carignan/Syrah 2013

Moving to the red, which was not bottled at the time of this tasting, the 2013 Cotes Catalanes checks in as a blend of 60% Grenache and 20% each of Syrah and Carignan. Aged all in tank and coming from 50-year-old vines, it offers a spectacular bouquet of black raspberry, black cherry, sappy herbs, leather and hints of crushed rock that flows to a medium-bodied, pure, layered and balanced feel on the palate. I love the overall purity here, and it has solid mid-palate depth and a great finish. It should be a multiple bottle purchase, and should drink nicely for 3-5 years. Score - 90-92.
