Balbas Gran Reserva 2001

This Gran Reserva has passed its first decade with vitality and strength, without any visible wrinkles. It's pure red fruit, refreshing and lively, glistening as if it were still a young wine. The texture is firm and elastic, rolling around the mouth with the radiant energy of its acidity. This is composed of tempranillo (90 percent) blended with cabernet sauvignon. Delicious now with roast suckling pig and potatoes, it will continue to evolve for at least five years more. Score - 96. (wineandspiritsmagazine.com, June 2012)
