Featherstone Gewurztraminer 2013

This is a well-measured, very drinkable gewürztraminer. I'm a big fan of the full-on gewürztraminers that are associated with Alsace, but this is a different take altogether, and it's much more versatile at the table. The variety's classic flavour profile is there, for sure, but it's restrained and captured within an essentially dry style, and complemented by the strong seam of clean acidity that dries out the residual sugar. The bigger, more pungent, blowsy style of gewürztraminer is great with many Asian cuisines, and this will go there, too, but it also swings toward many other foods. Score - 4 Stars out of 5.
