Salvatore Molettieri Vigna Cinque Querce Riserva Taurasi 2005

The 2005 Taurasi Riserva Vigna Cinque Querce is made in a super-ripe style. As impressive as the wine's concentration is, frankly I find it hard to justify the premium the Riserva commands over the regular bottling. Readers in search of seamless opulence will find much to admire here. Sadly, much of the varietal character seems to have taken a back seat to the search for size and textural richness.
