The 2010 Merlot sees 55% French new oak. It has a vibrant dark cherry and boysenberry scented nose laced with vanilla and then after a few minutes, there are hints of blackcurrant pastilles. The palate is well balanced with supple ripe tannins, layers of toasty dark berry fruit laced with espresso and spice. The finish is rounded and well defined with hints of white pepper and orange peel towards the well crafted finish. This is a lovely Merlot from Rustenberg, although I would drink it in its youth.
