Alceño 12 Meses Monastrell 2011

As you can see by the score, this wine was one of the big surprises of the blind tasting. The nose has good complexity displaying red cherries, plums, sweet spices (cinnamon, liquorice) and Mediterranean herbs (rosemary flowers). It is powerful and juicy but still has excellent balance. It has lots of rounded tannins supported by an inky structure. The wine lingers on the aftertaste. If you love powerful, juicy wines, this is one to look for. Drink till 2017.
