German Pinot Noir was traditionally made in a lighter style, but the modern take of what is being called the 'New Germany', is a far more serious Pinot of greater depth and weight. This example has rich earth, cherry fruit, beetroot and spice on the nose. The palate is quite lovely with great ripeness, acidity and length. (VINTAGES panel, March 2014)
