Errazuriz Aconcagua Costa Syrah 2012

This coastal syrah plants itself on the palate with the authority of a Praetorian guard. It has the freshness of just-picked red cherries, and a clarity of flavor that gives it an electric intensity. Compelling to drink now, the depth of flavors suggests that the wine will improve with another three or four years in the cellar, continuing to develop complexity. This syrah grows nine miles from the sea at the Manzanares Vineyard, which Errazuriz planted in 2005 on clay over black slate. Score - 94. (wineandspiritsmagazine.com, Feb. 2014)
