Deep crimson. Oaky nose - sweet spice and a touch of char. But there's also the floral side of Touriga Nacional shining through. Nicely dry tannins, fresh given the alcohol, but, like the 2010, could do with a little less oak to allow more of the fruit character and the region to be expressed. Chocolate-covered cherries on the finish but still juicy. Score - 16.5+ (out of 20 (Distinguished)). (Julia Harding, MW, jancisrobinson.com, July 25, 2013)
