Calliope Figure Eight Red 2013

The Calliope Hummingbird is the smallest bird in Canada, and the Figure Eight Red is named for the pattern the bird's wings describe while hovering in place. It is the perfect symbol for this graceful yet complex wine. A blend of primarily Merlot and Cabernet Franc with some Malbec and Syrah, this has a wonderful floral note flitting atop the intense fruit. Soft and approachable, but not without structure, and bursting with fruit flavour right through to the long finish. (VINTAGES panel, June 2014)
