Kir-Yianni Ramnista Xinomavro 2008

Depending on which critic you read, Xinomavro (which means 'black acid' in Greek) is likened to Piedmont's Nebbiolo or Burgundy's Pinot Noir, and in our opinion it is somewhere between the two. This example seems to support the notion as it carries elements of both while still being very much its own wine. Deep ruby colour with aromas of cherry, blackberry, vanilla, earth and spice dominating. Dry and flavourful with good layers of acid and chewy tannins suggesting good ageing potential (4-6 years).
